Where the dollas at?

28 03 2008

Have you ever had that burning desire to unload some dollars at the local general store on some undetermined item? That urge to lighten your pockets of their burdensome load while boosting the local economy and stimulating urban renewal (ok, that might be a bit of a stretch but I’m sure you get my point). Well I currently have that urge.

Here is my dilemma. I am currently overwhelmed with the need to boost the economic growth of my local Best Buy or Target but I cannot determine the item upon which I shall unload previously mentioned dollars. What a tragedy it is that I have a few dollars to spend without an item to throw it upon. AHH.

Is this dilemma to be my downfall? Will my pockets continue to be weighty and bloated? Will that mysterious unnecessary item finally protrude it’s mysterious head from within the shelving of my local big box store?

Only time will tell. Stay tuned.

Shameless Self Promotion

27 03 2008

Well as you can see I have, as usual, named this blog with complete honesty.  ABSOLUTE AND COMPLETE HONESTY.   I though I would go ahead and tell all of my readers (yes, both of you…) that my lovely lady has started a custom paper crafters business and would love to help you all with your gift ideas, custom scrapbooks, custom cards, custom….well, papery things.I guess you might want to know more now right?? Go here: http://everythingkeepsakes.typepad.com

I did the design for her header so…if you need digital work you should call me.
:)

Ok, that’s enough shameless self promotion for one day.

Back by popular demand – “The State of Tacos” or “As the Burrito Turns”

26 03 2008

Have you ever wondered why you always get that taco bell craving at 12:15 at night? The other night (after a rousing game of apples to apples) we were off to taco bell to acquire the ooey gooey cheesy goodness that can only be found within its tasty morsels. We arrive at taco bell and reach the drive thru menu when it becomes apparent that the higher iq employees were already off for the evening (both of them). We had four separate orders (which apparently, even with the wonders of modern computing, is an overwhelming task at 12:15 in the taco bell line) and began to shout at the menu our orders. It seemed that all was well but alas looks can be deceiving. We were ordered to “drive around” and off we went. That is when the day old burritos hit the fan. Apparently they did not know how to separate our orders or were simply confused by the sheer quantity of taco goodness we had ordered. Inevitably our orders took forever (oh yes, please dont forget the taco sauce…..did you say mild…..yes mild……excuse me, did you give us sauce?…..mild?…..yes, mild…..and so on….). In the end most of the food was right on except for my order which consisted of 5 items (not the four that i had ordered) that only slightly resembled the order I had placed. Actually, only one item that I had ordered actually made it into the bag……in fact, one of the items resembled an odd combination of two of the things i had ordered…..a meximelt chili cheese concoction that was tasty but odd looking (and where on earth did the crunchwrap supreme come from??).

I guess what I am saying is that, while taco bell distributes some tasty morsels of food, there were no rocket scientists on staff on Saturday night…..they must have all gone home for the evening.

Diet Coke

18 03 2008

Diet Coke…ah, that blissful beverage full of fizzy excitement and nose tickling enthusiasm.  I must say that a day without Diet Coke is like a day in the hottest desert.

What a wonderful, amazing, and fantastic liquid with such thirst extinguishing powers that overwhelm my senses with intense explosions of joy. Joy Joy Joy.

But wait….if Diet Coke is, by any measure, a wonderful refreshing treat, then Diet Coke with Lime is a virtual Niagara Falls of refreshing delight!

I hereby declare Tuesday, March 18 to be “The Day of the Diet Coke.”

Are you living or existing?

18 03 2008

I hope this rambling finds all you readers (yes both of you) doing fantastic on this 70 degree soon to be stormy day.  Thanks to all of you who came out last Saturday night and heard the band play…it was a great show and the crowd was pretty good until it started getting really cold on the patio at Brookhaven.  Wouldn’t you know we would have a full week of weather in the 70s only to have the day of the show turn out downright chilly!!

Anyway, I find myself sitting here today thinking about how wonderful my life is and how thankful I am that I not only am able to enjoy my life but that I have all these amazing blessings in it…Amanda, the opportunity to play music,  my family, diet coke (those of you who know me understand that Diet Coke is indeed a blessing!!), and so many more!  I hear people all the time at work and out in the world who constantly complain about this and that…about things that don’t really matter in the long run.  I can tell you that I have had the highest highs and lowest lows…..I have had money and have had days when the bank account was empty.  What I have discovered is that these are only details.  We have the opportunity to live and that is far bigger and better than the circumstances within our life.  Circumstances will change and change again but who we are….who we really are….and how we decide to live is what is important.

I guess I am just ecstatic that I have the choice to enjoy life and be content with my place in this world.  Even when I want more I know that I don’t need it.  I can and will be happy with all that I have….because what I have is absolutely amazing.

Cooking and the state of the union…

11 03 2008

Hello all….today’s installment in the life of David will be followed by a cheese tasting. Ok, not really but I bet you want some cheese now…

I thought it would be important to tell you all that last night I tried a new “idea” in the kitchen and…let me tell you….it was not one of my better “ideas.”  Some of you have tasted one or more of my tasty kitchen creations and, from what you say, you love most of them.  However, let me tell you that the creation last night was not so great.  It was a combination of bad fish and mediocre seasonings…..but mainly bad fish.  Why on earth can you not get reeeeaaaaalllllyyyyy good fish in this town?!?  I would do better to order my fish direct from the Pike Street Market in Seattle and have them FedEx it to me. It would be a lot fresher than what they have in the stores here.  Seriously….do you have to sell fish that takes like a shoe?  Blech.

On another note, I must say that I am growing extremely weary of all the presidential politics.  Do we really need to endure 2 straight years of campaigning in order to elect a president?  And if I hear Hillary’s voice one more time I might throw a rock at my tv…..I think she needs to take some public speaking courses at the local community college.

The world according to me…

9 03 2008

Well here it is….a permanent place for my blog to reside.  I have grown tired of using myspace  (or is that lazy…) and facebook doesn’t really meet my creative needs for expression.  Ha. I need a place for my crazy rantings to live (outside my head that is).  Just so you know, this will be where I rant on about things, ramble aimlessly about pointless topics (see my old myspace blog if you don’t know what I mean by that), put up examples of my design work for some input, and who knows what else…..It seems that the sky might be the limit with this (and the layout will change periodically just to keep you on your toes!).

So, here it is….my blog….the epic (or not so epic) words of the Godfather himself….enjoy!
