Choose a life not a living

4 08 2008

I sit here on the eve of another day wondering how we all find contentment in so many passionless pirsuits. Most would agree (given adequate thought) that we find every day to be yet another of many pointless days marching towards something that we have yet to identify. A wise man once told me that I should make a life and not a living and until recent years I wasn’t sure exactly what he meant. In my youthful exuberance I believed that I was indeed creating a life while, in all honesty I wasn’t creating anything more than an incoherent string of days without a unifying target that tied them all together.

Let me quickly pause to point out that I am not that my faith isn’t a unifying force. Jesus is my foundation and brings unification to my life. What I am saying is that a targetless existence produces less fulfillment than a goal driven, targeted and quasi planned life.

I am not saying you should become a “purpose driven” person or a Franklin Covey apostle…..what I am saying is that we should each strive to discover our passions in life and then follow after them with a fervor that can only exist where passion lives.

Money may come or not but a life lived with passion will bring fulfillment, joy and rewards that will outlast any compensation we had hoped for while living our previously passionless lives.

Find your passion and chase it with everything you have!
